I love Katy Perry.
She always looks to me like some kind of neon Barbie doll with her long lashes and pop art coloured tresses. Her outfits and beauty choices are fun and young, and she’s never afraid to break a few rules. I just can’t get enough of her looks. She’s kind of a larger than life character, part screen siren, part cartoon character, and it’s so enjoyable to check out her colourful red carpet style. I wish there were more celebrities who embraced such a joyful and colourful aesthetic.
She was rocking a brilliant blue do’ at the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice awards this year, her long flowy ponytail and green outfit made her look like a cross between a My Little Pony and a Ninja Turtle! No wonder the kiddies love her!
Now she’s putting her name to some of the hottest products on the market. Eyelure have brought her in to do a gorgeous range of false eyelashes (available at Priceline) with cutesy names like ‘Oh Honey’ and ‘Sweetie Pie’ – what’s not to love? She’s also released a second perfume to continue the success of her ‘Purr’ fragrance. The new ‘Meow’ scent keeps with the kitty theme and is bottled in a similar cat like container, only this time it’s pink, not purple. I haven’t tried this fragrance yet, but stay tuned. It’s meant to be a sister fragrance to Purrm just a little bit sweeter where Purr is fruity. I’m dying to get my paws on a bottle!
I do love the Purr scent though, it’s been my go-to daily perfume for a while now. It’s a parfum so it has great lasting power, and the fruity, fun scent just cheers me up – especially as the winter months start to bring on darkened days! If you follow me on Twitter you may have seen me crowing about my purchase of an awesome priced Purr gift pack recently (there are some great packs in store right now for mother’s day). You can never have too much of a good thing I say, and how cute is this? I even got a kitty shaped solid perfume necklace with it, and I think it retailed for somewhere in the vicinity of $50 (Plus i got it at Priceline with a rewards voucher, woo hoo!). For a 100ml parfum, shower gel and moisturiser, this was a total steal! I think I paid about $70 for the 50ml Purr parfum alone when it first came out!
Finally Katy is also lending her name to GHD stylers and the new ghd hair dryer, the GHD Air. In the awesome ads for the dryer she’s dressed as a mermaid, with, in true Katy style, PINK hair of course! How cool is this ad? A true visual feast! I hope this splash of colour has helped to brighten your afternoon beauties. Tell me, do you love or loathe Katy? What do you think of her style? Maybe I’m just girl crushing on her because she’s a fellow cat lover…who knows!
