Feb 112012

Well beauties, we are a mere two days away from Valentine’s Day 2012, and if you’re anything like me, you completely forgot about it! Luckily, I just remembered, so there is no time to order personalised gifts or that random book your love has been talking about.

What’s the answer for last minute V-day shopping? Beauty products of course! Don’t worry, they’re sneaky ones, and he’ll love them, promise!

First off the ranks is that gift that keeps on coming, a beauty box subscription! You already have one? No probs, it’s not actually for you, there are special ‘boy’ boxes around now that can give your man that gift in the mailbox full of goodies to try too. What a perfect gift for that boy that grumbles everytime you drag him into a Priceline (if you can even get him inside). Now your boy can have the best of beauty without shopping for ‘man’ stuff, he just has to walk to the mailbox!

Glossybox has their new Glossybox Men pack, which comes out quarterly (that’s four times a year for those of you who are math challenged, me included!) and it costs only $19.95 for 6-8 high quality beauty minis, made just for blokes.

It even comes in a ‘manly’ black and grey box, made just for him.

You can get your valentine’s shopping done in just a few clicks by heading over here and registering for the box.

My next favourite beauty buy for your beautiful boy is a bit of a cop-out, and not for the boy who is easily offended (stinky stinky boy!). It’s deodorant and shave cream. I find it’s great to pick this stuff up for the men in your life to make sure that they are always smooth skinned and smelling great.

The best picks for these that I’ve come across are in the shaving category: the TriShave 3in1 Anti-Rash Shave Cream for men RRP$8.50 for 100g. You may remember me raving on about the girl’s version in this post, and from what I’ve been told by my guinea pig male counterparts, the men’s shave cream holds it’s own as well.

This stuff is perfect for fellas who tend to get shaving rash or painful ingrown hairs on their face and neck. The tea-tree oil and lavender oil treat any nasties and added skin conditioners ensure a comfy shave, even for the hairiest of blokes that have to shave all the time! You can even pick this up at the supermarket or check it out in Priceline.

As for my deodorant pick, my boy swears by Nivea Cool Kick Aerosol, $6.29 which you can pick up at anypharmacy or supermarket. It works all day, and for your smelling pleasure, leaves your boy with a nice masculine scent and sweat-free all day. Cool Kick is also available in a roll on formula for only $3.29.

Last but not least on this year’s Valentine boy shopping list? Another Nivea gem, the Revitalizing Eye Q10 Eye Roll-On which retails for around $13. If you’ve ever used any eye roll on products like some of those on offer by Garnier, you’ll know how easy they are to use, especially for boys. No sticky creams or touching your face required. One quick lick under each eye morning and night has you covered. The eye roll on contains “coenzyme Q10, a natural ingredient that triggers natural cell functions, as well as vitamins and UV filters to combat premature skin ageing” but you don’t have to tell him all that, in fact, the perfect way to get your boy to use this is to stick it in the fridge, and when he’s all hot and bothered whip it out for a cool tingly treat under the eyes. Perfect summer beauty treatment for the reluctant boy. And I have to add, this stuff really does work. I tried it on my brother, and after only a couple of weeks of using it every other day (when he remembered) he looked like he’d slept an extra couple of hours each night!

Tell me beauties, what do you have up your sleeve for Valentine’s 2012? Any special plans? What do you think of these products, would your boy try them?
